Dear Wheatley Families,
The spread of COVID-19 has caused significant staffing shortages within Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS). Due to the limited number of staff available to safely operate our schools, JCPS will not have school on Monday, January 10. Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) will begin on Tuesday, January 11, and will continue through Friday, January 14 for all JCPS students.
If our staffing levels return to a point that we can safely operate school, our scheduled return to in-person instruction will be Tuesday, January 18. This follows the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. We will continue to keep families informed of any changes.
We understand this will be a challenge to families but this is temporary. Providing you with student expectations during NTI is important to us. To ensure you know what the NTI school day will look like, we’ve included a few key details that we believe will be helpful in planning out the next several days.
All students will have live online instruction at various points during the school day and are expected to participate during that time. If an issue arises with your student’s device, please reach out to our office at 502-485-8348.

Please plan to start your day at 9:00 am.

Students will continue to have access to other supports during NTI including Special Education, English Language Learner support, counseling support, and our mental health practitioners.
This virtual learning environment is not anticipated to last long and when our staffing needs are resolved, we will return to in-person instruction.
